Focus on holdings of the Federal Archives in Berlin-Tegel (formerly “WASt”): Z-cards, identification tags, MIA- and military hospital records, medical reports, files on POSw and Kriegsmarine personnel files.

2021 – 2025: Research for two books by Timo R. Worst on war crimes committed by the SS unit led by Gustav Knittel (1914–1967) during the Battle of the Bulge.

2024: Research into personal records for the redesign of the permanent exhibition on the Soviet Special Camp Buchenwald (Special Camp 2) at the Buchenwald Memorial.

2022 – 2023: Contributed to the Federal Archives’ database “Residentenliste”/“List of Jewish Residents in the German Reich 1933–1945 within the borders as at 31 December 1937”.

2021 – 2022: Researcher on the University of Melbourne’s ‘KGB Empire: State Security Archives in the Former Eastern Bloc’ project. Archival researches at the Federal Archives in Lichtenberg and the archives of the Robert Havemann Society.

2018 – 2022: Transcriptions of source material for Dr. David Stahel’s book project: Hitler’s Panzer Generals: Guderian, Hoepner, Reinhardt and Schmidt Unguarded, Cambridge University Press, 2023.

2019 – 2021: Transcription and translation of several hundred manuscripts from the late 16th century for the research project ‘Communicating Lutheranism: church building in an age of orthodoxy, 1555–1618’ by Dr. Neale Schofield, focusing on the Wittenberg printing houses following the death of Martin Luther.

2018 – 2021: Freelancer on the project ‘The City of Salzburg under National Socialism’; archival research for several volumes in the series, as well as background research on individuals with links to the Nazis after whom streets in Salzburg were named. You can find the project website here.

2021: Academic editing and proofreading of Franziska Zaugg’s book: Recruitment for the Waffen-SS in South-Eastern Europe: Ideas, Ideals and Realities of a Multi-Ethnic Army, Berlin 2021.

2019–2020: Research Fellow at the Moses Mendelssohn Zentrum in Potsdam (MMZ). Focus on archival research into the “science of Judaism” and on Leopold Zunz (1794–1886) and the “Association for Jewish Culture and Science”, including at the GStAPK, as well as transcriptions of documents from the Leopold Zunz Archive.

2014 – 2018: Archival research for the series “Täterprofile. Die Verantwortlichen im Hamburger Bildungswesen unterm Hakenkreuz” (3 volumes), edited by Dr. Hans-Peter deLorent at the Hamburg State Agency for Political Education, published in 2016 (Volume 1), 2017 (Volume 2) and 2019 (Volume 3).

2017: Freelancer for the exhibition organised by the Central Welfare Office of the Jews in Germany (ZWST) entitled “100 Years of the ZWST. 100 Years in the Service of Jewish Welfare”. Archival research, including extensive image research, on leading figures of the ZWST from 1917 to 2017.

2016: Freelance researcher at the Institute for Theatre Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. Transcription of Max Reinhardt’s director’s script for “Danton’s Death” (1916).

2013: Freelance researcher at the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Conducted research at the Political Archives of the Federal Foreign Office for a research project by Dr. Chern Cheng on German-Syrian relations in the 1930s and 1940s and the activities of former Nazi officers as military advisers in Syria from 1949 to 1956.

2010 – 2011 and 2012 – 2013: Freelance researcher on the project “Jewish Migration and Integration in Vienna and Berlin 1867/71–1918”, led by Dr. Ingo Haar, at the Institute for Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna. In 2022, Haar’s book “Jewish Migration and Diversity in Vienna and Berlin 1667/71–1918” was published by Wallstein.

2009: Freelancer for the National Archives of Finland on the project ‘The National Archives on interned German and Hungarian citizens in Finland in the period 1944–47’.

2008–2009: Student research assistant at the Centre for Research on Anti-Semitism (ZfA), Technical University of Berlin. Contributed to the DFG research project SPP 1106: Origins, Forms and Consequences of the Concept of ‘Population’ before, during and after the Third Reich. Conducted extensive archival research in Berlin, Koblenz, Munich and Leipzig.

2007: Freelancer for a research project run by the Foundation for the Social History of the 20th Century on the Reemtsma Group in Crimea. The findings were published in 2011 in the study edited by Dr. Dr. Karl-Heinz Roth and Dr. Jan Peter Abraham: Reemtsma in the Crimea – Tobacco Production and Forced Labour under German Occupation 1941–1944, Hamburg: Edition Nautilus 2011.
