All personal data and documents, as well as the results of my research, are, of course, treated in the strictest confidence. The same applies to private family documents that you send to me for transcription. On request, the results of research or scans of original documents, as well as their transcriptions, can be saved to an external hard drive. Cloud storage and other online storage services are not used as a matter of principle. You can find the privacy policy here.
Often, researched files are also subject to data protection regulations and have so-called retention periods. In principle, files can only be accessed 30 years after they were created.
For personal files, a retention period of 100 years after the person’s birth or 10 years after their death applies.
For files subject to confidentiality, a retention period of 60 years generally applies.
